On behalf of the Orcutt Aquacenter Board of Directors, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the supporters of the Aquacenter and it's national Make A Difference Day cleanup effort. Volunteers worked tirelessly at the project site at 4300 Hummel Dr. on Saturday, Oct. 24, in anticipation of our future presence in the Orcutt community. A special thanks goes out to Bedford Enterprises, Coca Cola, Danny George Landscaping, Fence Factory, Hertz Equipment Rental, Kinyon Construction Inc., Quinn Equipment Co., United Rentals, Health Sanitation, Waste Management and Oak Knolls Hardware and Home Center for their gracious contribution of time, equipment, products and services. The Orcutt Aquacenter project had been in the approval process for many years and now the end is in sight. Since the project was approved in 2007 by the county, the permit application process has been under way. Active fund-raising efforts are also in progress toward reaching the goal of finalizing the permit process, begin on-site improvements, grading, underground utilities, and construction of the Aquacenter's 16,500-square-foot Orcutt Community Building that will serve the Orcutt/Santa Maria Valley Community needs, as well as begin revenue generating activities and events for its future growth. The public is also invited to get involved by making a donation of any amount toward this exciting project, join the ranks of the Orcutt Aquacenter membership and/or volunteer time or in-kind services. With continued help from the community, the vision for a community building and swimming/recreation facility will soon become a reality. All contributions are tax-deductible, and can be made to: Orcutt Aquacenter Inc., P.O. Box 2580, Orcutt, CA 93457-2580.
